Abstract: In this talk I will give an overview of activities in SDU UAS, the Drone Center at University of Southern Denmark.
Our aim is to advance drones (unmanned aerial systems, UAS) for societal flourishing through excellence in education, research, and innovation. Our main research focus is drone autonomy, and I will exemplify this with an overview of research projects in medical logistics, infrastructure and environmental monitoring, precision agriculture, and humanitarian demining. Moreover, I will elaborate on drones in nature conservation, based on the WildDrone project, which is an interdisciplinary European research project aimed at revolutionizing wildlife conservation practices by using autonomous drone technology as a unifying platform to monitor wildlife populations, track their movements, and manage human-wildlife conflicts.
