In these recent years, online shopping such as Amazon and Rakuten is widely used thus home delivery services are on the rise. However, the increase in the volume of work has reduced the efficiency of logistics and increased the cost of delivery. What’s more, due to the current spread of Covid-19, people tend to avoid contact with others as much as possible. As a solution, there are various delivery robots that have been developed to decrease the cost of delivery.
In our study, we developed a delivery crawler-type robot, UDOn (Ubiquitous Delivery On-demand Robot), which is able to climb up and down stairs. The robot is developed under three design concepts: low development cost, a simple mechanism, and small size.
